Samsung SGH i900 Omnia

Following Samsung’s earlier announcement to launch the SGH-i900 Omnia Windows Mobile Professional this summer, Samsung Germany just unveiled the German release date and price for Germany. In Germany, the i900 Omnia will be available from 6th August and without a contract, the 8 GB version will be available for 649 Euro. Furthermore, Samsung confirmed that the i900 Omnia will be available from all four German carriers (T-Mobile, Vodafone, E-Plus and O2); while so far only O2 Germany was confirmed. The SGH-i900 Omnia runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and features quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and singleband UMTS/HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps. Furthermore, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR are on board as well as a an FM radio and a GPS receiver.

The Synaptics 3.2″ WQVGA (240 x 400 pixel) touch screen features vibrations that give users feedback when the display is touched. Tap, sweep, drag and drop operations let consumers navigate through the TouchWiz UI. An accelerometer auto-rotates the display when tilted on the side.
As known from the Samsung SGH-i780 already, also the i900 features a touch sensitive trackpad instead of a regular D-Pad. The Omnia comes with a built-in 5.0 megapixel autofocus camera with facial and smile detection, auto-panorama shot and image stabilizer. At a size of 112 x 56.9 x 12.5 mm, the i900 features a 1440 mAh battery.

    Hi Paul

While not confirmed, it seems likely that the SGH-i907 (yet to be announced, sorry) is a customized version of the SGH-i900 for AT&T (US).

It is worth noting that the shape of the i907 does not appear to be the same as the i900 based on the diagram included in the FCC filings.

To me, personally, I find that the SGH-i907 looks more like a Blackjack than an Omnia, but the word on the street is that it’s the Omnia’s US cousin.

    What do you think?
